Finally we got to see Castillo - a strangely
suspenseful 3D world with a menacing red sky. Swimming in
long tunnels featured strongly and I realized I had
developed a healthy dread of drowning from previous
experiences with Tomb Raider. There were bats and caveman
characters, and all we had to defend ourselves with were
brass knuckles.
Although the MacLions actually came second in this
challenge, Lane did a fabulous job with the maps and we won
on points.

Next up was Award Challenge #3, "Thirst for
Knowledge". Immediately following the conclusion of the
Tribal Web we jumped into this rapidly paced challenge. The
challenge introduced us to an interactive 3-D game Bill had
developed based on the Marathon (Aleph One) gaming engine.
Our job was to navigate the game and locate our tribal
areas and our water supply and claim a hut. Each tribe then
had to produce a map of their respective tribal areas and
an overview of the Island of Castillo. We had about 2 weeks
to complete these tasks! For the first time in the
MacSurvivor 2004 contest the iOftheTiger tribe came out
ahead! The win was due to timely submittal of the maps that
met contest requirements. The MacLion tribe's map,
submitted a week later, was definitely more artistically
appealing. The results of the challenge can be seen here -
