The first challenge that I was involved in was the "Membership" Immunity Challenge. The contest involved producing several product reviews with extra credit for logging in to the Hotline server and ran from August through December 2004. You can see details of the challenge here. The iOftheTiger tribe lost the first Immunity Challenge. At our first Tribal Council Travis was voted of the island. This tribal council gave me the sense of how difficult it can be to have to decide which of your team mates you must eliminate.

After ensuring all team members were at MacGuild Silver Level or higher by sharing out gift points where necessary, this round was basically about doing as many freeware and shareware reviews as we could in a limited time. There were lists of software to choose from or we could propose software we already used.
Since we won the same number of points for each review irrespective of size or complexity, there was a benefit in going for the smallest applications, so I started with The Blob and Moondock and then added a long-time favorite, the Amazing Slowdowner.
In this round Bill also tried to incentivize us to use Hotline to communicate with him. It's hard to remember that he wasn't using iChat in those days. I installed Hotline using my admin account and it wouldn't work from my user account so it never became a natural method of communication for me.
Although we didn't have to vote off any of our cherished MacLion team members, inevitably some of our number found that personal circumstances intervened and they could not continue with the contest. We lost 3 members, Patty, Rick and Jim Haney, and gained a new member, Mark Pickett. Despite being "the new guy", Mark quickly got started with a review and joined into the spirit of the contest.
